Twinning of Skål International Lima and Skål International Madrid
In a significant event that reaffirms the bonds of friendship and international cooperation in the field of tourism, Skål International Lima (Peru) and Skål International Madrid (Spain) held an emotional Twinning Ceremony between Clubs on 22 September 2025 in Lima, Peru, followed by a fellowship luncheon.
The event, hosted by Jacqueline Del Castillo, Director of Cultural Affairs of Skål International Lima, featured the formal signing of the twinning agreement by Jorge Jochamowitz, President of Skål International Lima, and Juan Francisco Rivero, President of Skål International Madrid, with Andrés Hayes, Vice President of Skål International and President Elect 2026, acting as the guest of honour.
During their speeches, the presidents of both Clubs highlighted the strategic value of this twinning as a decisive step towards the integration of common agendas, the strengthening of collaborative networks, and the promotion of responsible tourism on a global scale. After the formal proceedings, an official toast and a welcome cocktail were offered, creating a networking space for attendees.
The fellowship luncheon opened with remarks from the President of Skål International Lima, Jorge Jochamowitz, and included a special address by Andrés Hayes. The presence of high-ranking public sector authorities was also noteworthy, such as Norma Aracelly Laca, Deputy Minister of Tourism of Peru, and María del Sol Velásquez García, Director of Tourism Promotion at PROMPERÚ, who emphasised the importance of these institutional ties in driving sustainable tourism development policies and enhancing Peru’s international projection as a destination.
The programme concluded with the screening of audiovisual materials and a toast to the twinning, the friendship between Clubs, and the spirit of international cooperation that Skål International promotes in global tourism.
